      "Watching life in all it's joy and pain, then transposing what he sees into lyrics that reach us where we live, Darren Hawkins attempts to convey a reality that exposes his heart and show how transparent we need to become.  As he shares God's love with his audiences, Darren contrasts the confusion of a hectic world with the simplicity of God's salvation."

     Most of his life Darren Hawkins has been actively involved in a music ministry that is multifaceted.  He has ministered through playing to a veriety of audiences from churches, schools, coffee houses, and nursing homes to festavls, conventions, camps, prisons, and youth functions of all kinds.  Not only does he do acoustic concerts, but he's also been given to the oppertunity to bring his ministry to the next level.  After years of doing solo concerts, he has brought togeather a band made up of some of the best musicians that he has ever worked with.  They call themselves "The Fringe".

     "The Fringe" is a high energy, pop alternative, acoustic band with an explosive ministry that's reaching people for Christ.  "The Fringe" is made up of Darren Hawkins, Greg Snowden, and John Swope.  They love to play music, but mostly have a real desire to see lives changed by sharing God's love with audiences all across the country.  Not only does Darren do concerts,  but at least half of the dates on his schedule involve him leading worship.

     Worship is a very intregal part of Darren Hawkin's ministry, so it was very important that he find a band that has the same vision as he does.  Each member of "The Fringe" is actively involved in one way or another in worship.  Whether they're doing a large convention, a festavle, or a church concert, worship is a huge part of the whole experience.  For the last 15 years the Lord has been preparing Darren's heart for this faze of his ministry. " It's exciting to see a room full of people who have never experienced what it is to truly worship God turn around and humble themselves and let God do his thing. "

     With two projects under his belt, (" Mercyville " /1996 & " Everyday Jesus "/ 1998) Derran Hawkins has seen the awsome things that God can do if we will just give him total controll.  Both projects are great examples of how God can take a heart that is not completely His, break it, and put it back togeather as a better, more usable heart.

     Darren is on the road doing 170 to 200 dates a year.  Even though he has gone through so much, he always finds the time to make his family a priority.  God has given him the ability to play and minister to others, however, he believes that his very first ministry is to his family.  Darren has clearly learned the importance of priorities and family values, but it did not come easily.  " I had to be honest with myself and come to the understanding that behind my relationship with the Lord, Barbra and Elizabeth come first and everything esle second.  Once I set those priorities in line, everything else fell into place, just like God promised it would. "

     In the last 5 to 6 years,  the Lord has opened many doors for Darren.  He has been given the opportunity to open for and play with such artists as Susan Ashton, Cheri Keaggy, Cindy Morgan, Larry Howard, Tom Shumate, Marry Tiller ( Anointed ), Jay DeMarcus ( East to West ), Michelle Wagner, ect..., He also used his gifting on the secular stage to share Jesus with audiences that might not ever go to church or a Christian concert.  "In this day and age, you can not wait for the people to come to you, sometimes you need to go to where they are.  The Bible says ' Go ye there for into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature...' "

     In 1998 Darren will be taking his ministry over to the European theatre.  He is going to be traveling in Germany and Western Europe doing concerts, worship conferences, ect...  The experiences are limitless when God get involved.  Please keep him in your prayers as Darren shares God's love with the European people.

     Not only does Darren Hawkins minister through music, but he attempts to share Jesus through testimony.  Although he has a serious message, he shares it with a sence of humor and deep emotion that touches people where they live.  Darren attempts to confront his audience with the problems we face in our society and show them that there is an answer in Jesus Christ.
